Who You Are

As a Principal Lift Engineer for Islington's Housing Property Services, you are a committed professional with a minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience in designing and maintaining lifts. You are driven to promote fairness, challenge inequality, and provide excellent service to residents. Your leadership qualities allow you to effectively collaborate, inspire, and empower your team and stakeholders.

What the Job Involves

Your primary function is to ensure all lifts serving Islington’s housing accommodations are adequately maintained. This is achieved by developing and implementing a rolling cyclical capital works programme, including the replacement of lift cars and equipment. You will work closely with the Group Leader and other stakeholders to establish communication, develop forward programs, policies, strategies, and provide an integrated customer-focused service to residents and service users. Additionally, you will manage budgets, legal compliance, and ensure all work meets high standards in design, safety, and efficiency.

Skills

  • Ability to prepare work programs and manage projects within budget
  • Technical expertise in lift engineering design and maintenance
  • Excellent knowledge of statutory regulations and British standards
  • Proficiency in writing technical reports
  • Problem-solving in service engineering design and maintenance
  • Commercial acumen for procurement of works
  • Capability to update the Lifts Asset Management Data base
  • Competence in staff recruitment, training, and development
  • Organize and coordinate team workload efficiently
  • Liaise effectively with consultants, contractors, and sub-contractors
  • Flexibility in work style with site and office-based work as required
